These models are made out of plastic and have rubber tracks. All movements are controlled through electric motors joined to
gearboxs. Operation is slow and is best in sand or soft materials for digging, they don't work too well in dirt. On cheap
models there is "no" individual control of the bucket. Movement of the bucket is linked to the "stick",
if you move the stick towards cab, the bucket scoops, move it away and it dumps.

This is a 1/12 scale model available from a few different companies. $80 to $100 and radio controlled. One thing that makes
this better then most cheap excavators is the fact that there's a motor that allows you to swing the cab.

This model of what looks like to be a caterpillar 365 is about $40 to $50 from Target or Toys R Us. It's remote controlled
and powered through a wire to the remote by 4 "C" batteries. Theres no motor to swing the cab.
